    • i have my car in uber. no use i make hardly 25k per car cutting all the expense. the writer forgot to add vehicle maintenance cost of 15,000 and monthly emi if there is any which is there for most of the vehicles

      but now uber cabs pay don’t pay trip incentives, they pay u incentives on business like if u did 2000, u get 1000 extra.

    • They are not making any profits as of now. They are running the business with VC money(funding) and not own money, so they are offering lots lot of discounts and incentives.

    • Uber earns lot of money from passengers. I guess quantity the number of request plays an important role. 1 rupee from 1 passenger and 1 rupee from 100 passenger makes a lot of difference ultimately uber does not owns any car..

      Thanks for dropping by.. You can go with used car as well but it depends city by city. In Bangalore Uber says that your car should not be more than 4 years old (I have heard this from a driver in Bangalore and not sure about this) because in Bangalore everyday 50 owners are joining their car with Uber Cabs and this stats is correct as per my knowledge. So, it is difficult to attach used 6+ year old car here in Bangalore. But they have different terms and condition in different cities. In some cities they need more car so they might be taking used cars .

    If driver works 10-12 hours per day he will earn 2000-3000 per month or may be in loss . How ?

    Earning per day = 2000-2500 rs.(that is also hard to get it,uber has reduced peak time hours and many more conditions).

    Expenditure per day=driver+maintenance cab+fuel+uber fee.

    driver salary=18000 per month (600 per day).

    maintenance of cab=6000/month(200 per day)

    fuel=600 per day

    uber fees=650 rs.

    Expenditure=6000 +200 + 600 +650=2050.

    so total earning=2000=2050=-50 rs.

  134. I own a Swift Dezire Model-July’2015.
    During that period, yes the incentive structure used to be good but not as good as the writer has mentioned over here.
    The writer did not even mention the Maintenance & EMI cost which together comes upto 20,000 (Approx).
    After this comes the driver who is the king in the market which charge you around INR 25,000 (Or More) as salary/commission.
    Removing which the owner will be left with around INR 45000 (THIS IS ONLY AS PER THE ADMINS INCOME PLAN).

    Coming down the bitter reality.
    This UBER/OLA thing is only meant for CAR Drivers who will work themselves. The people who are salaried or have a different business, don’t even think of getting into this business. It can be your greatest mistakes of your life.
    The drivers nowadays can give you nightmares in this business. I am sharing my personal experience with you all.
    I am from Kolkata. I bought this car after confirming a driver whom I thought will work hard and do good business but he didn’t. They take offs anytime. They give excuses to take holiday.
    You have to take their bullshit everyday and you cannot do anything because your hands are tied because you have to pay the EMI at the end of the month.
    BOTTOMLINE: DO NOT. I REPEAT.. DO NOT buy any commercial car to put in UBER/OLA if you have a plan to get it run by a driver. Rather if you want to drive it yourself and make money, GO DO IT!! It is good.
